Scored a pair of these in black from a resale site for $22 shipped. I have to be choosy to find decent footwear in my size (13 EEE) that can manage to withstand 280 lbs of fun on the daily. I like the dressy/athletic look of these shoes and having an eye towards design and engineering, words like "Vibram" "Vegetable-Tanned leather" and "Handmade" tend to stand out. So I took a chance on the unknown.Boy did I luck out here. These shoes are every inch the finest shoes I've owned. My feet have always been too wide for Converse All-Stars or PF Flyers but I've always been in love with that overall aesthetic. These shoes feel like that idea perfected and mated up with a dress shoe upper and a walking shoe lower. And all of that's wrapped up in a big old chunk of amazing smelling vegetable tanned leather inside and out. The hand-stitching, materials and construction seem pretty flawless. They're also wide enough and have a low enough arch that they're some of the most comfortable shoes for walking that I've ever owned. They're so comfortable and form fitting that I sometimes literally forget that I'm wearing shoes at all. They're that good.So if this is a normal example of Samuel Hubbard, I think I may be in danger of getting hooked on this brand. May be why I'm looking for other styles in my size. They're versatile in spades and pretty obviously worth the high retail pricetag. That said, it's cool to be able to find them for resale at prices that are regularly around $50. Gotta love finding an underground gem.
